Announcement for the publication of the EASTS Journal (Vol. 14)

Dear Authors of EASTS Journal (Vol.14),
ISC deeply apologizes for the serious delay of the publication of the EASTS Journal (Vol. 14) since we originally waited for the end of the review process of papers recommended to ATS Journal so as to include those papers rejected by ATS. This is the first time that ATS moves to Elsevier and all submissions to ATS are subject to an independent review process. We cannot guarantee all recommended papers could be accepted by ATS and the review process takes much longer than we expected originally.
ISC received many inquiries regarding the publication date of EASTS Journal from anxious authors. To respond to the authors positively, ISC decides to publish the EASTS Journal at two stages. Firstly, we will publish the papers accepted by EASTS Journal and those papers already rejected by ATS (a total of 152 papers). The production of the EASTS Journal needs 6-8 weeks from now and we will keep you informed regarding the publication date. The second-stage EASTS Journal will be published as the review process of ATS ends. We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause.

Due to numerous requests for the extension of EASTS2021 paper submission deadline, the deadline for reviewed paper submission has been further extended to March 15.
The 3rd Call-for-Papers, paper template and copyright transfer agreement are online available at the EASTS ISC Website (https://easts.info/isc/) as well as the EM paper submission system website (https://www.editorialmanager.com/easts_isc/).
Additionally, to cope with the evolving challenges of COVID19 pandemic, the EASTS2021 will be held by a dual mode, visual and physical. Please visit the website of EASTS2021 Conference (https://easts.hiroshima-u.ac.jp) to see the most updated information.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE ISC CHAIRPERSON

Dear Honorable Members and Conference Participants of EASTS,

I am very honored and pleased to be appointed as the ISC chairperson with a mission to foster exchanges in academic research and practical applications among our 19 EASTS local societies. The 19 local societies of EASTS have similar transportation situations and face similar traffic problems. The umbrella of EASTS provides a perfect platform for experience exchanges and international cooperation to explore solutions for providing safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems.

For past EASTS conferences, ISC received a total of 450~530 submissions for each conference, encompassing a variety of research topics coauthored by researchers from both academia and practice. The number of registered delegates has ranged from 600 to over 1000, making conference participation stimulating and fruitful.

To successfully host such a big conference during a rather limited time period is very challenging. I would like to thank the local steering committee, headed by Prof. Akimasa Fujiwara and his outstanding colleagues in Hiroshima University, for the strong support for ISC activities under such difficult times as the COVID-19 pandemic. I understand the local steering committee has prepared and work-shopped several contingency plans to cope with the rapidly evolving challenges of COVID-19.

Hiroshima Prefecture is situated in Western Japan on the coast of the Seto Inland Sea in an environment richly endowed with natural resources and scenic beauty. Hiroshima City itself has long been known as a beautiful and memorable place to visit. I look forward eagerly to seeing you in person or online at the EASTS2021 conference.

Dear Honorable Members of the ISC,

I would like to thank you for the works and efforts for the 13th EASTS Conference in Sri Lanka. I very much appreciate your scientific contributions for the Conference as Topic Group Chiefs, Chief Reviewers, and/or Chairs for technical sessions. In particular, although the paper review system is short of satisfaction, I carefully say that the review system has been improved in terms of review quality and support of ISC members.
